After two years of hard work and a ton of content, we have recently hit two major milestones.
Yes, you read that right. AIHR has been here for two years already. The company actually turned 2 back in June this year but we wanted to hold off on the celebrations until hitting another important milestone.
Last week Wednesday, October 10, was the day that we have welcomed our 2,000th student to the HR Analytics Academy!
This calls for a short write up of how we got to where we are now – and a unique offer for you (at the end).
So, how did we get here?
Let’s start with the launch of our blog, AnalyticsinHR.com.
While interviewing over fifty senior HR executives and HR directors, the opportunity of launching a blog in the HR Analytics space began to take shape.
It already started with how easy it was to get a meeting with our ‘interviewees’. Whenever we mentioned the magic words ‘big data’, ‘predictive analytics’, ‘hr analytics’, or a combination of those, we would get a meeting within weeks. Quite a rare phenomenon considering the seniority of these people (working for mostly 10.000+ FTE companies).
After merely a couple of interviews, a pattern started to emerge. The general outcome usually was that the person had heard of HR analytics and believed that it was going to be crucial to improving the strategic impact of HR within the organization.
However, usually they did not have any clue as to what HR Analytics was, what you can do with it, and how they could get started. These questions made sense considering the data-aversity of the average HR professional.
At this point, we were able to answer most of these questions pretty well using our own knowledge. Having validated the need for more information, Erik and I jumped at the opportunity and registered the analyticsinhr.com domain name.
Two weeks later we were able to launch our website and publish the first couple of articles that answered some of the basic questions we had encountered during our interviews. You may recognize some classics: What is HR Analytics, Predictive Analytics in Human Resources: Tutorial and 7 Case Studies, 14 HR Metrics Examples, and 9 HR Analytics Terms You Should Know.
As the niche grew, the need for information turned out to be quite a bit bigger than we had initially expected. Starting with just 10 – 20 visitors per day, the numbers gradually increased exponentially. By now we are welcoming over 70,000 monthly visitors to the Analytics in HR blog.
Cool. But what about that 2,000th student?
Roughly six months after our launch, the number of email subscribers started to take-off and passed the 500 mark. At this point, our visitors actually started to tell us what we needed to focus on, as a lot of you responded to our emails asking why you signed up for our newsletter.
Many of you turned out to be so intrigued by HR Analytics that you wanted to start applying it within your own organizations. Indeed, we often got the question if we could refer to any HR Analytics training!
There wasn’t much out there. We had gathered a lot more knowledge ourselves, so we jumped at the opportunity. We began developing online courses and shortly after launched the HR Analytics Academy in April 2017.
Starting with just one course and a handful of students, things started to grow quickly as the HR Analytics field kept expanding. Just over 1.5 years later we’re looking back at a time during which
- we’ve welcomed students from over 60 different countries,
- created eight online courses,
- expanded our AIHR team with 11 fantastic and devoted colleagues, and
- have just welcomed our 2,000th student!
Credit where credit is due though.
During the past two years, we have been very fortunate to work together with many of the brightest and most devoted people in the field. It’s safe to say that we would not have made it to this point if it weren’t for these people.
For our blog, we rely on a loyal group of subject matter experts who help us to create some of the most in-depth and practical content out there. And for the HR Analytics Academy, we have partnered with many excellent instructors to create the world’s best online HR Analytics courses.
A special thanks goes out to all of you!
So, what’s next?
Online education has become our primary focus. By now, we have eight self-paced online courses on our platform. Number nine is already in the pipeline and will be released before the end of this year and there are many more on the roadmap!
Besides training, we are seeing a need for support throughout the implementation process of People Analytics. So that is what we will be offering with the online People Analytics Community and Interactive People Analytics Roadmap.
The Community is a place to meet and collaborate with other practitioners like yourself. Together with people from around the globe you can solve problems on the spot and increase the speed by which you are able to implement HR analytics.
The Roadmap will guide you through the steps of the implementation process. Linked to the roadmap is a library of practical resources that will help benefit you along the way.
When will this launch?
The community and roadmap are ready. In fact, some of our Academy students are already using it.
And so could you.
